The 2024-2025 International Series is presented in part
with support from the Roy Minoff Family Fund.
Jorge Caballero, known for accomplishing the seemingly impossible, will perform Antonin Dvořák’s entire Symphony No. 9, From the New World, on solo guitar! This beloved work is based on Dvořák’s brief period in the U.S. and his belief in African American music as the future of all American music. The program is rounded out by two works based on Black spirituals: a neglected masterwork by Ulysses Kay and the world premiere of a piece by Thomas Flippin, commissioned by CCGS. This is a unique opportunity to experience the first performance of an innovative program by one of the world’s most accomplished performers.
This engagement is supported by the Arts Midwest GIG Fund, a program of Arts Midwest that is supported by the National Endowment for the Arts, with additional contributions from The Ohio Arts Council.
