Badi Assad, the remarkable Brazilian artist, defies music genres with her voice, guitar, and percussion talents. She’s known for singing while playing guitar and bass and using mouth percussion to create unique percussive sounds. Born in São Paulo, she pioneered the “one-woman-band” style, blending vocal percussion and body rhythms. After collaborating in “Mulheres de Hollanda,” she gained recognition through albums like “Solo” and “Chameleon,” despite facing focal dystonia. In 2020, she released “Around the World,” and in 2021, she was featured on Arooj Aftab’s GRAMMY-winning “Vulture Prince.” Her journey continued with “Ilha” in 2022, and she is currently touring the world in support of this great catalogue of beloved and fresh Brazilian music.
...she is an abstract lyrical poet working on a level that similar artists can only hope to one day reach.” Critical Jazz
