Damians’ extraordinary journey began as a student in CCGS’s Education Program, serving youth in the City of Cleveland. His achievements now include 3 national TV appearances, performing for 2000 people at the Cleveland Foundation’s Annual Meeting at Severance Hall, touring New York and Spain with the U.S. Guitar Orchestra. Damian attended the Cleveland School of the Arts, received a full scholarship to Oberlin Conservatory, and was in the inaugural classes of prestigious fellowships with the Cleveland Institute of Music and the Guitar Foundation of America. He is the first recipient of a free concert guitar from Gifted Guitars. On Saturday, January 18- Damian will perform a civil rights-themed program at Karamu House. A centerpiece of the program is a group of the stunning 14 Études on the Music of Black Americans, based on spirituals and sung as well as played by Damian.
