The Cleveland Youth Guitar Orchestra is for teens/kids grades 7-12 (younger students with significant experience may be considered). Rehearsals for the Spring session will be held on Saturday mornings from 9:30-11:00 AM. This orchestra is led by Rodrigo Lara Alonso.

If you are a new member, before paying please contact us at info@cleguitar.org to set up a free assessment session to determine placement in this ensemble.

Cost and Deadline

The cost of the orchestra is $150, which includes all 10 sessions, sheet music, etc. Payment must be made by February 14. Payment can be made by phone with a credit card (216-905-9348), by mail with a check (address below), or online (top left corner of this page) by adding the membership to your cart and checking out.

About Rodrigo Lara Alonso

(Director of the Cleveland Youth Guitar Orchestra)

Rodrigo Lara Alonso holds music degrees from the National Autonomous University of Mexico (UNAM), Federal University of Rio de Janeiro (Brazil), and Indiana University. He is currently completing a doctoral degree in music education at the University of Southern Mississippi. He worked for nine years as a professor at UNAM and is fluent in three languages.

Rodrigo has extensive experience conducting guitar orchestras, and directs the guitar ensemble Sicarú, which has won 17 competition prizes in six different countries. 

Rodrigo recently moved to Cleveland to join the faculty of the Cleveland Classical Guitar Society Education Program.
